4-19. CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLIES.
NOTE
This task is the same for the front and rear cylinder
head assemblies (1). It must be done for both
c y l i n d e r head assemblies.
I n t a k e valves are bigger than exhaust valves.
Disassembly.

FRAME 1
1.
U s i n g valve spring compressor, press in outer valve spring (2).
2.
T a k e out two exhaust valve spring retainer locks (3).
CAUTION
Be careful not to let valve spring compressor slip
o f f valve spring retainer (4) when easing off valve
s p r i n g t e n s i o n . O u t e r valve spring (2) and valve
s p r i n g retainer can pop out and be lost.
S l o w l y work valve spring compressor to ease off tension on outer valve

Take off valve spring retainer (4).

T a k e out outer valve spring (2) and inner valve spring (5).
T a k e out and tag exhaust valve (6) and valve rotor (7).

Do steps 1 through 6 again and take out and tag two more exhaust valves,

v a l v e rotors, and springs (8) and three intake valves, valve rotors, and
springs (9).
