NOTE
R e a d i n g s must be within limits given in table 4-56. If
r e a d i n g s are not within given limits, throw away spring
and get a new one.
D o this frame for all six outer valve springs (1).
1.
C h e c k that outer valve spring (1) is not worn, cracked or damaged. Throw
a w a y damaged outer valve springs and get new ones.
2.
M e a s u r e free length of outer valve spring (1).
U s i n g spring tester, measure load needed to s q u e e z e o u t e r v a l v e s p r i n g
3.
( 1 ) to a length of 1.67 inches.
4.
U s i n g spring tester, measure load needed to s q u e e z e outer valve spring (1)
t o a length of 2.12 inches.
5.
U s i n g spring tester, measure solid height of o u t e r v a l v e s p r i n g ( 1 ) .
