1.
C h e c k that three exhaust valve seats (1) are not cracked or loose. If any
e x h a u s t valve seat is cracked or loose, take it out using engine valve
s e a t knockout tool.
2.
C h e c k that three exhaust valve seats (1) are not burned or pitted. If any
e x h a u s t valve seat is burned or pitted, take it out using engine valve seat
knockout tool.
3.
S e t cylinder head (2) on side as shown. Coat face of a new intake valve (3)
w i t h Prussian blue. Put new exhaust valve in cylinder head so that it rests
a g a i n s t any exhaust valve seat (1).
4.
T u r n new exhaust valve (3) 1/2-turn in either direction.
5.
Push new exhaust valve (3) straight out of cylinder head (2). Check for an
e v e n coating of Prussian blue all the way around the exhaust valve seat (1)
j u s t checked.
If coating is not even, tag exhaust valve seat just checked
f o r grinding by machine shop.
6.
D o steps 3 through 5 again for other two exhaust valve seats (1).
