1 - 1 . S C O P E . This manual contains the direct support and general support mainte-
n a n c e instructions for the trucks listed below. T h i s manual includes procedures for

1 - 3 . C L E A N I N G . All parts must be cleaned before inspection and assembly and after
r e p a i r . C l e a n inner and outer surfaces of metallic parts and all areas subject to oil
o r grease with dry cleaning solvent, t y p e I I ( S D - 2 ) , F E D . S P E C P - D - 6 8 0 . C l e a n o u t
s l u d g e and gum with a stiff brush. U s e steam cleaning to take off accumulated grease
a n d dirt after dry cleaning solvent has been applied. Dry with clean rags. To
c l e a n bearings refer to TM 9-214. T h e general cleaning covered by other manuals and
