Tool Kit, General Mechanic's, Automotive (GMTK)
Materials Required
Seal (Qty As required)
Lock washers (Qty As required)
Equipment Conditions
Access to relevant cylinder. Any load bearing on the cylinders is to be supported.
WARNING
INJURY FROM EXTREME HYDRAULIC OIL PRESSURE. THE SYSTEM MUST BE
DE-PRESSURIZED BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY WORK ON ANY CYLINDER.
INJURY FROM EXTREME HYDRAULIC OIL PRESSURE. WHEN DE-PRESSURIZING
CYLINDERS IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE NO HYDRAULIC OIL CAN BE
SPRAYED. MAKE SURE THAT NO PERSONNEL ARE STANDING NEAR THE
CYLINDER BEING DE-PRSSURIZED.
SLIP AND FALL INJURY. PERSONNEL MAY SLIP ON SPILLED HYDRAULIC FLUID.
SUITABLE CONTAINERS AND FLUID ABSORBENT MATERIALS ARE TO BE USED
TO CONTAIN SPILLAGE.
NOTE
This is a general procedure to be used on any cylinder when required. The steps detailed
in this procedure are applicable to all hydraulic cylinders. The differences in
counterbalance manifolds is detailed in table 1.
Not all manifolds are mounted on manifold blocks and the number of o-rings required can
be determined when the counterbalance manifold is removed.
