NOTE
Engine LDS-465-2 uses aluminum oil cooler and filter
h o u s i n g ( 1 ) . A l l other engines use cast iron oil cooler
a n d filter housings.
1.
F o r all engines except LDS-465-2, use strong light and magnifying glass to
c h e c k that oil cooler and filter housing (1) is not cracked. For engine
L D S - 4 6 5 - 2 , check that oil cooler and filter housing is not cracked using dye
penetrant kit.
2.
I f oil cooler and filter housing (1) is cracked, throw it away and get a new one.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near
an open flame. K e e p a fire extinguisher nearby when
s o l v e n t is used. U s e only in well-ventilated places.
F a i l u r e to do this may result in injury to personnel
a n d damage to equipment.
3.
C h e c k that oil cooler and filter housing (1) has no nicks or burrs. Fix small
n i c k s or burrs with a fine mill file or crocus cloth dipped in dry cleaning
solvent.
4.
C h e c k that 12 studs (2) and stud (3) do not have stripped or damaged threads
a n d are not bent or loose. Take out damaged studs and put in new ones.
