NOTE
I f no intake valve seat inserts (1) were taken out, go
to frame 23.
T w o sizes of intake valve seat inserts (1) are used in
t h e s e cylinder heads (2). Cylinder head can use a
c o m b i n a t i o n of intake valve seat insert sizes. Measure
e a c h intake valve seat counterbore (3) to tell whether
to put in a standard size or oversize intake valve seat
insert.
Readings must be within limits given in table 4-48.
T h e letter T shows a tight fit. If readings are not
within given limits, throw away part and get a new one.
1.
M e a s u r e and note inside diameter of three intake valve seat counterbores (3).
If diameter is 2.0580 to 2.0595 inches, this is a standard size intake valve seat
c o u n t e r b o r e . If diameter is 2.0680 to 2.0695 inches, this is a 0.0100 oversize
i n t a k e valve seat counterbore.
NOTE
Used intake valve seat inserts (1) that were not worn
w e r e tagged so they can be put back in the same place.
B e c a u s e machine shop may have machined some standard
s i z e intake valve seat counterbores (3) into oversize in-
t a k e valve seat counterbores, some intake valve seat
inserts may now be too small.
Measure and note outside diameter of each intake valve seat insert (1) to be

v a l v e s e a t c o u n t e r b o r e s ( 3 ) . For 0.0100-inch oversize intake valve seat
c o u n t e r b o r e s , use 0.0100inch oversize intake valve seat inserts. Refer to
t a b l e 4-48 for sizes of intake valve seat inserts.
3 . Measure fit of each intake valve seat insert (1) in its intake valve seat counter-
