L a y a straight edge (1) along line A on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
1.
U s i n g feeler gage, check that gasket surface of cylinder head is not out-of-
flat crosswise.
2.
I f gasket surface of cylinder head (2) is more than 0.003 inch out-of-flat
crosswise, get a new cylinder head.
If gasket surface is out-of-flat by less
t h a n 0.003 inch crosswise, tag cylinder head for resurfacing by reaching shop.
NOTE
Cylinder head (2) may have been resurfaced before. If
c y l i n d e r head was resurfaced before, amount of metal
m a c h i n e d off will be stamped on front of cylinder head
a b o u t 1/2 inch from gasket surface of cylinder head.
N o more than 0.005 inch can be machined off. If 0.005
i n c h has already been machined off and cylinder head
needs resurfacing, get a new cylinder head.
L a y straight edge (1) along line B on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
3.
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
L a y straight edge (1) along line C on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
4.
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
L a y straight edge (1) along line D on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
5.
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
