NOTE
R e a d i n g s must be within limits given in table 4-44. If
r e a d i n g s are not within given limits, throw away part
and get a new one.
E a r l y model oil pressure regulator valve plunger spring
( 1 ) is no longer available. If this spring is damaged,
you will have to put in late model oil pressure regulator
v a l v e plunger spring, which is longer. To make room
f o r longer spring, you must also throw away early model
p l u g (2) and put in longer late model plug (3).
1.
M e a s u r e free length of oil pressure regulator valve plunger spring (1).
2.
U s i n g spring tester, measure load needed to squeeze spring (1) down to
1.750 inches.
3.
U s i n g spring tester, measure solid height of spring (1).
