NOTE
T w o types of oil pressure regulator have been used on
t h e s e engines. This task is the same for both except as
noted.
O n early model oil
pressure regulators, if upper plug
( 1 ) or upper spring
(2) are found to be damaged,
c h a n g e both parts.
Only late model plug (3) and
s p r i n g (4) are now
available.
O n early model pressure regulators, check that threads on four mounting

screws (5), pipe plug (6), plug (1), and plug (7) are not damaged. Fix
m i n o r thread damage with a thread chaser.
O n early model pressure regulators, check that plugs (1 and 7) are not

c r a c k e d . Check that springs (2 and 8) are not cracked or worn. Throw
a w a y cracked plugs and cracked or worn springs and get new ones.
O n late model pressure regulators, check that threads on four mounting

s c r e w s (5), pipe plug (6) and plug (9) are not damaged. Fix minor thread
d a m a g e with a thread chaser.
O n late model pressure regulators, check that plugs (3 and 9) are not
4.
cracked.
Check that spring (4) and spring (8) are not cracked or worn.
T h r o w away cracked plugs and cracked or worn springs and get new ones.
Check that two plungers (10) are not cracked. If plunger is cracked,

throw it away and get a new one.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable, Do not use near an
o p e n flame. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when
s o l v e n t is used. Use only in well-ventilated places.
Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
d a m a g e to equipment.

C h e c k that two plungers (10) do not have nicks or burrs, Fix small nicks
a n d burrs with a fine mill file or crocus cloth dipped in dry cleaning solvent.
