NOTE
M a i n thrust bearing halves (1 and 2) are different from
o t h e r main bearing halves (3). Main thrust bearing halves
h a v e a flange (4) on each side.
1.
M e a s u r e inside width A of main thrust bearing half (2) between flanges (4).
If reading is not within limits given in table 4-11, throw away both main
b e a r i n g halves (1 and 2) and all 12 main bearing halves (3).
2.
M e a s u r e width of main thrust bearing cap (5). If reading is not within
l i m i t s given in table 4-11, throw away crankcase (6) and all seven main
b e a r i n g caps (5 and 7) and get a new crankcase.
NOTE
New crankcase (6) comes with new bearing caps (5 and 7).
3.
M e a s u r e fit of main thrust bearing haIf (2) on main thrust bearing cap (5).
If reading is not within limits given in table 4-11, do steps 1 and 2 again.
If reading is still not within limits, t h r o w away crankcase (6) and all seven
m a i n bearing caps (5 and 7) and get a new crankcase.
IF BEARING HALVES WERE NOT THROWN AWAY, GO TO FRAME 36.
IF BEARING HALVES WERE THROWN AWAY, GO TO FRAME 38
