CAUTION
It is easy to damage the equipment if you do not know
w h a t you are doing.  Do not try to do this task unless
y o u are experienced a t it or you have an experienced
p e r s o n with you.
NOTE
Rear oil seal tends to wear, a groove in crankshaft
flange (1).
1.
C h e c k to see if there is a groove in crankshaft flange (1). If there is, set
u p dial indicator (2) as shown.  F o r best reading, pull crankshaft away from
d i a l indicator.

I f groove in crankshaft flange (1) is more than 0.005 inch deep, get a new
c r a n k s h a f t ( 3 ) .  Then go to frame 21.
If there is no groove or groove is less than 0.005 inch deep, check crankshaft

f l a n g e (1) for minor nicks, scratches or burrs.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
o p e n flame.  K e e p a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
v e n t is used.  U s e only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
d a m a g e to equipment.

I f crankshaft flange (1) has minor nicks, scratches or burrs, smooth it with
c r o c u s cloth dipped in cleaning solvent.
