1.
C h e c k that crankshaft gear (1) is not cracked. If crankshaft gear is cracked,
throw it away and get a new one.
2.
C h e c k that teeth of crankshaft gear (1) are not worn or pitted. If crankshaft
gear has pitted or badly worn teeth, throw it away and get a new one.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
o p e n flame. K e e p a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
v e n t i s u s e d . U s e only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
d a m a g e to equipment.

C h e c k that teeth of crankshaft gear (1) have no burrs or sharp raised metal
e d g e s . Fix small burrs and raised metal edges with a fine mill file or crocus
c l o t h dipped in dry cleaning solvent.
C h e c k that threads in two puller holes (2) in crankshaft gear (1) are not

d a m a g e d . F i x minor thread damage with a tap. If threads are badly damaged,
t h r o w away crankshaft gear and get a new one.
