CAUTION

B e careful not to nick or scratch camshaft journals

( 1 ) . If camshaft journals are damaged, engine will

not run properly.

T a k e out camshaft gear woodruff key (2).

WARNING

Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an

o p e n flame. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-

vent is used. Use only in well-ventilated places. Fail-

ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and

d a m a g e to equipment.

C l e a n camshaft (3) with dry cleaning solvent. Clean off sludge and gum using

s t i f f brush. D r y with clean cloth.

C l e a n camshaft thrust plate (4), camshaft gear woodruff key (2), two camshaft

t h r u s t plate screws (5), and lockwashers (6), and camshaft gear locknut (7)

w i t h dry cleaning solvent. Dry with clean cloth.

C l e a n camshaft gear (8) with dry cleaning solvent. Clean off sludge and gum

d e p o s i t s with stiff brush. Dry with clean cloth.

P u t camshaft gear woodruff key (2) back in camshaft (3) so it will not be

lost.
