WARNING
D o not use a wire brush or compressed air to clean brake
d r u m (1). There may be asbestos dust on the drums
w h i c h can be dangerous to your health if you breathe it
in.
C l e a n dirt or mud from brake drum (1) using a brush and water.

C h e c k that brake drum (1) is not warped or cracked. If brake drum is

w a r p e d or cracked, throw away drum and get a new one.
C h e c k that brake drum (1) is not scored or pitted. If brake drum is scored

o r pitted, using calipers, measure inside diameter (2). If inside diameter is
m o r e than 13.5 inches, throw away drum and get a new one.
I f inside diameter (2) is not more than 13.5 inches and brake drum (1) is
4.
s c o r e d or pitted, using lathe, cut drum. Cut drum only as needed to take
off scores and pitting.
I f brake drum (1) was cut, using calipers, measure inside diameter (2). If
5.
c a l i p e r reading is more than 13.5 inches, throw away drum and get a new one.
