with minimum fluctuation.
*12. Engine control levers - Check for alignment.
*13. Vertical speed indicators - Check nor-
mal operation against altimeter as follows:
a. Aircraft rate of climb - Fly an indicated 1000
feet per minute.
b. Read altimeter at beginning of timing, and
time for one minute.
c.
Read altimeter at end of one minute.
Second reading must be 1000  200 feet
more than first reading.
*14. Surface deice system - Check as follows:
a. SURFACE deice switch - AUTO. Verify that
surface boots inflate and automatically
deflate for one cycle, and that wing boots
stay inflated for 6 seconds, then tail boots
stay inflated for 4 seconds.
b. SURFACE deice switch - Hold to MANUAL
position. Verify that boots stay inflated until
switch is released.
c.
SURFACE deice switch - Release. Check
boots visually to see that they are sucked
down flat after use.
