CHAPTER 2
CLASSIFICATION AND USE
Section I. CLASSIFICATION
2-1.
General.
This section provides guidelines for inspection to determine the condition classification of special reusable shipping
and storage containers. Containers are classified as Condition Code A, F, or H, in accordance with the following
provisions:
a.
Condition Code A - useable without qualification.
(1)
Container free of stage 4 corrosion (see para. 2-3).
NOTE
Stage 1, 2, and 3 corrosion must be treated in accordance with paragraph 2-5c prior to use.
(2)
Container free of structural damage such as:
(a)
Functional damage to the suspension system.
(b)
Cracks or holes in the container hull.
(c)
Hull deformity to the extent that the container can not be closed (sealed where required).
(d)
Dents that will interfere with the item envelope.
(e)
Missing internal hardware (other than common hardware type items or consumable materials).
b.  Condition Code F - Unserviceable (Repairable) Container does not meet the criteria for condition code A and
cost of repair does not exceed 65% of the current acquisition cost.
c.
Condition Code H - Unserviceable (Condemned). Container does not meet the criteria for condition code A or F.
