NOTE

Intake valve guides and exhaust valve guides are the same.

C h e c k that six valve guides (1) are not cracked, worn, scuffed or loose.

C h e c k that inside diameter of six valve guides (1) is not more than 0.4420

i n c h . Diameter should be measured 1/8 to 1/4 inch from each end of valve

g u i d e . If any valve guide is worn more than given limit, do step 3.

I f any valve guide (1) is damaged, worn or loose, mount cylinder head (2)

i n holding fixture and turn cylinder head so that bottom faces up as shown.

D r i v e out valve guide using soft faced hammer and valve guide remover (3).

T h r o w valve guide away, and get a new one.

IF ANY VALVE GUIDE WAS TAKEN OUT, GO TO FRAME 13.

IF NO VALVE GUIDE WAS TAKEN OUT, GO TO FRAME 16.
