NOTE

D o this frame only if cylinder head (2) was tagged

f o r resurfacing or if any exhaust valve seat (1) was

t a g g e d to be machined.

D o step 1 only if cylinder head (2) was tagged for

resurfacing.

If cylinder head was not tagged, do

steps 2 thorough 5.

U s i n g engine valve seat knockout tool, take out exhaust valve seats (1) not

tagged to machined.

Tag each exhaust valve seat taken out "front

e x h a u s t " , "center exhaust" or "rear exhaust" so it can be put back in the

same place.

Do not take out exhaust valve seats tagged to be machined.

NOTE

Two sizes of exhaust valve seats (1) are used in these

e n g i n e s . Cylinder head (2) can use a combination of

s t a n d a r d and 0.0100-inch oversize exhaust valve seats.

M e a s u r e inside diameter of exhaust valve seat counterbore (3) for each

e x h a u s t valve seat (1) taken out.

I f diameter of exhaust valve seat counterbore (3) is 1.8080 to 1.8095 inches,

t h i s is a standard size exhaust valve seat counterbore. If diameter is 1.8180

t o 1.8195 inches, this is a 0.0100-inch oversize exhaust valve seat counter-

b o r e . I f diameter is more than 1.8195 inches, get a new cylinder head (2).

I f inside diameter of exhaust valve seat counterbore (3) is more than 1.8095

i n c h e s but smaller than 1.8180 inches, tag this exhaust valve seat counterbore

t o be machined to 0.0100-inch oversize by machine shop.

C h e c k that exhaust valve seat counterbore (3) is not damaged. If a 0.0100-

i n c h oversize intake valve seat counterbore is damaged, get a new cylinder

h e a d (2). If a standard size intake valve seat counterbore is damaged,

t a g it to be machined to 0.0100-inch oversize by machine shop.
