16-9. BRUSH GUARD REPAIR.
N o special tools required
TOOLS:
S o l v e n t , dry cleaning, type II (SD-2), Fed. Spec P-D-680
SUPPLIES:
P E R S O N N E L : One
B r u s h guard removed from truck.
EQUIPMENT CONDITION:
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use
near an open flame.  K e e p a fire extinguisher
n e a r b y when solvent is used. Use only in well-
v e n t i l a t e d p l a c e s .  Failure to do this may result
i n injury to personnel and damage to equipment.
FRAME 1
1.
C l e a n all parts in solvent. Let parts dry.
C h e c k that brush guard (1) has no cracks, breaks or bends.
2.
C h e c k that bolts (2) and nuts (3) have no stripped threads.
3.
F i x cracks or breaks in brush guard (1) by welding, Refer to TM 9-237.
4.
Straighten bends in brush guard (1).
5.
R e p a i r threads on bolts (2) and nuts (3) with taps or dies.
6.
I f more repair is needed, throw parts away and get new ones.

P a i n t parts after repair. Refer to TM 43-0139.
