(2) Retail Stock. Upon receipt of this TB commanders and others maintaining retail stock at
installation level and below shall contact the supported aviation unit to perform the inspection required by
paragraph 8. Any paragraph 7 components found in retail stock are to be disposed of IAW paragraph 10. Re-
port compliance with this TB IAW paragraph 14.d.(2).

Task/Inspection Suspense Date. During the next 10 flight hours/14 day inspection.

Reporting Compliance Suspense Date. No later than 15 August 1997 per paragraph 14.a of this TB.

Summary of the Problem.
a. The lower pitch change link bearing, rod end, P/N 70101-08202-101, manufactured by Island Engi-
neering (CAGE code 48137) has recently completed required engineering testing, the results indicate that
the fatigue strength is significantly below that of the original equipment manufactured component and as
such, must be removed from the aircraft. Engineering estimates that 100 hrs of additional service is accept-
able without incurring a significant risk due to this component.

For manpower/downtime and funding impacts, see paragraph 12.
c. The purpose of this TB is to remove all bearing rod end, P/N 70101-08202-101, manufactured by
Island Engineering (CAGE 40137), in accordance with paragraph 9.

8.  lnspection Procedures. Verify visually that bearing, rod end, P/N 70101-08202-101 manufactured by
Island Engineering (CAGE 40137) is installed on the aircraft. CAGE number should be located on crown of
bearing. lf the specified bearing rod end is not identified, the inspection is completed (report per paragraph
14.b.). If specified bearing rod end is identified, it must be removed IAW paragraph 9.
9.  Correction Procedures. Remove all bearing rod end P/N 70101-08202-101, TM l-l 520-237-23, para-
graph 5.10.4 and TM 1-1520-250-23, paragraph 5.9.3 manufactured by Wand Engineering (CAGE 40137)
at or before the next scheduled maintenance but no later than the next 100-hours from the date of the super-
seded message or 30 December 1997 whichever comes first. Dispose of IAW paragraph 10.d.
10. Supply/Parts and Disposition.
a.  Parts Required. Bearing rod end assy, P/N 70101-08202-043, NSN 3120-01-244-6423,4 each, may
be required to replace paragraph 7 items.
b.  Requisitioning Instructions. Contact logistical POC in paragraph 16.b. for requisitioning instructions.
Requisition replacement parts using project code XDL.
c.
Bulk and Consumable Materials. N/A.
d.  Disposition. Demilitarize/mutilate any paragraph 7 part/component manufactured by island engi-
neering (CAGE 40137) and dispose of using normal procedures.
e.  Disposition of Hazardous Material. In accordance with environmental protection agency directives
as implemented by your servicing environmental coordinator (AR 200-1).
