c.
Inspection.
FRAME 1
1.
Check that stator (1) and connector (2) have no cracks or breaks. If
cracks or breaks are found, generator is nonrepairable,
Check that connector (2) has no loose rims or stripped threads. If
2.
connector is damaged, generator is nonrepairable.
CAUTION
Do not use a battery or test lamp to make a continuity
test. Reverse battery connection will burn out diodes
instantly.
3. Using multimeter, check stator (1) for continuity. Touch test probes of
multimeter to pins (3, 4, and 5, and 3 and 5). Multimeter must show
continuity between each set of pins.
NOTE
Pins (6, 7, and 8) are not tested for continuity. Make
sure that they are not touching stator (1).
4. Using multimeter, check stator (1) for open circuits. Touch one test
probe of multimeter to stator housing, and the other test probe to each
pin (3 through 8) on connector (2). Each check must show an open
circuit.
