NOTE
If sliprings (1) are out-of-round, they must be turned
down.
Measure runout of sliprings (1) using dial indicator (2) and V-blocks as
1.
shown in view A. Set dial indicator on one slipring, turn rotor (3), and
note reading on dial indicator as rotor turns. Runout cannot be more than
0.001 inches.
Do step 1 again for other slipring (1).
2.
Check that rotor shaft (4) is straight by using a dial indicator (2) as shown in view b.
3.
Set dial indicator on rotor shaft, turn rotor (3), and note reading
on dial indicator.
NOTE
If reading on dial indicator changes as rotor turns,
rotor shaft (4) is bent and generator is nonrepairable.
