C h e c k that timing gear cover (1) is not cracked, dented or burred. If cover

i s damaged, get a new one.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
o p e n flame. K e e p a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
v e n t i s u s e d . U s e only in w en-ventilated places. Fail-
u r e to do this may result in injury to personnel and
d a m a g e to equipment.
C h e c k that gasket surfaces at bottom and at rear of cover (1) have no nicks,

s c r a t c h e s or burrs. Fix minor damage with a fine mill file o r crocus cloth
d i p p e d i n d r y c l e a n i n g s o l v e n t . I f m o r e r e p a i r i s n e e d e d , g e t a new cover.
C h e c k that timing pointer pin (2) is not loose, cracked or damaged in any way

I f pin is damaged, get a new cover.
C h e c k that stud (3) does not have stripped or damaged threads and is not
4.
d a m a g e d in any other way. F i x minor thread damage with a thread chaser.
I f more repair is needed, take out stud and put in a new one.
