R e a d i n g s must be within limits given in table 4-46. The
letter L shows a loose fit. If readings are not within
given limits, throw away part and get a new one.
M e a s u r e free length of piston cooling relief valve plunger spring (1).

U s i n g spring tester, measure load needed to squeeze spring (1) down
t o 1.380 inches.
3.
U s i n g spring tester, measure solid height of spring (1).
M e a s u r e outside diameter of two plungers (2).
4.
M e a s u r e inside diameter of two plunger bores (3).
5.
M e a s u r e fit of two plungers (2) in plunger bores (3).
6.
