C h e c k that piston rings (1) are not scuffed, scored, chipped or have chrome

p l a t i n g worn through to bare metal. Check closely those rings that may have

b e e n sticking in ring grooves. I f any rings are damaged in any way, get new

ones.

WARNING

D r y cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an

o p e n flame. K e e p a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-

v e n t i s u s e d . U s e only in well-ventilated places. Fail-

u r e to do this may result in injury to personnel and

d a m a g e to equipment.

C h e c k that piston pin (2) is not cracked, nicked or scratched. Fix minor

damage with a fine mill file or crocus cloth dipped in solvent. If more repair

i s needed on any pin, get a new one.

C h e c k that retainer rings (3) are not cracked or bent. If any retainer ring

i s damaged in any way, get a new one.
