If any measurement taken in frame 73 is not within limits given in table 4-19,

skip step 2 and do step 3.

C o u n t the number of main bearing oil clearance measurements done in step 2

o f frame 73 that are more than 0.0062 inch. If four or more oil clearance

m e a s u r e m e n t s are more than 0.0062 inch, do step 3. If three or fewer oil

c l e a r a n c e measurements are more than 0.0062 inch, go to frame 75.

T a k e out two screws and washers (1) from each of seven main bearing caps (2).

Take off seven main bearing caps (2). Take out and throw away all 14 main

b e a r i n g halves (3) and get a new 0.0200-inch undersize main bearing kit.

NOTE

If main bearing halves (3) were changed, do frames

56 to 74 again for new main bearing halves.
