NOTE
Main bearing caps (1) and bearing saddles (2) are called
by numbers one to seven counting from front to rear of
crankcase (3).
Number
four main bearing cap (1) is called main thrust
cap. It is wider than other main bearing caps.

bearing
saddles.
1.
Put main t h r u s t b e a r i n g c a p ( 1 ) o n n u m b e r f o u r b e a r i n g s a d d l e ( 2 ) . M o u n t i n g
h o l e s in main thrust bearing cap must line up with screw holes in number four
earing saddle.
2.
C o a t two bolts (4) and washers (5) lightly with engine lubricating oil. Put
i n and hand tighten two bolts.
3.
U s i n g torque wrench, tighten two bolts (4) to 85 to 90 pound-feet.
4.
U s i n g torque wrench, tighten two bolts (4) to 115 to 120 pound-feet.
