NOTE
M a i n thrust bearing halves (1 and 2) a r e d i f f e r e n t f r o m
o t h e r m a i n b e a r i n g h a l v e s ( 3 ) . M a i n t h r u s t bearing halves
h a v e a flange (4) on each side.
M e a s u r e inside width A of main thrust bearing h a l f ( 1 ) b e t w e e n f l a n g e s ( 4 ) .

If reading is not within limits given in table 4-12, throw away both main
t h r u s t bearing halves (1 and 2) and all 12 main bearing halves (3).

M e a s u r e width of thrust bearing saddle (5). If reading is not within limits
g i v e n in table 4-12, throw away crankcase (6) and seven main bearing caps
( 7 ) and get new ones.
NOTE
New crankcase (6) comes with new bearing caps (7).
M e a s u r e fit of main thrust bearing half (1) on thrust bearing saddle (5). If

r e a d i n g is not within limits given-in table 4-12, do steps 1 and 2 again. If
r e a d i n g is still not within limits, throw away crankcase (6), seven main
b e a r i n g caps (7), both main thrust bearing halves (1 and 2), and all 12 main
bearing halves (3), and get a new crankcase.
IF BEARING HALVES WERE NOT THROWN AWAY, GO TO FRAME 37.
IF BEARING HALVES WERE THROWN AWAY, GO TO FRAME 38
