CAUTION
B e careful not to scratch inside surface of cylinder
s l e e v e s (1) when taking out piston and connecting rod
a s s e m b l i e s (2 and 3).
B e careful not to scratch or dent connecting rod upper
bearing halves (4) when pushing out piston and con-
necting rod assemblies (2 and 3). Push only on bottom
of connecting rod (5), not on bearing halves.
NOTE
C y l i n d e r sleeves (1) may come out with piston and
connecting rod assemblies (2 and 3). If cylinder
s l e e v e comes out, tag it so it can be put back in the
s a m e place.
W a t c h top of cylinder number one piston and connecting rod as-

sembly (2). Tell soldier B when piston rings (6) are clear of
cylinder sleeve (1).
Using wood or nylon
dowel and hammer, gently tap bottom of

Pull piston and connecting rod assembly (2) out of engine.
