Some generators have a cotter pin (1) in shaft (2).
If generator has cotter pin (l), using pliers, pull cotter pin (1) out and

throw it away.

With generator (3) on bench, put strap wrench (4) around pulley (5) as
shown. Pull end of strap to make it tight on pulley and hold it.
Using 3/4-inch socket wrench, unscrew and take off locknut (6) with

washer (7).
