(1)

Remove the launch beam drive top cover. See maintenance procedure 5-035.

(2)

Lay a straight edge across the sprockets of the launch beam drive and measure the sag in

the duplex chain. The dimension should not be greater than 3.5mm. If the dimension is

greater than this, the gearbox will require shimming to achieve a figure of between 1.5mm

and 3.5mm.

Calculate the thickness of shims required to achieve the correct chain tension.

(4)

Loosen the four nuts (1), lock washers (2), plain washers (3), packer (4), shim pack (5) and

bolt (6).

(5)

Lift launch beam drive motor and insert appropriate shims.

(6)

Torque bolt (6) to 339 lb/ft (460Nm).

Follow on Tasks

(1)

Switch the battery shutoff switch to the on position.
