h. Record receptacle. Inspect record receptacle cover for condition and attachment chain. Replace as necessary.
i. Preserve Component. Clean, dry and preserve component to be packaged in the container. Specific instructions
are provided in the Army Master Data File (AMDF) Packaging File or applicable Technical Manual.
j. Install Component. Install component in the container as shown in the installation instructions provided with the
container.
k. Gaskets. Inspect gaskets and seals for permanent deformation, cuts, abrasions and other defects which affect
sealing the container Replace defective seals and gaskets as necessary.
WARNING
To prevent the possibility of fire or explosion, do not attempt to dry contaminated
desiccant. Discard and replace contaminated desiccant.
CAUTION
If the dryness of the desiccant can not be assured oven dry the desiccant in accor-
dance with the instructions m TM 38-230-1.
I. Desiccant. Install the quantity of dried desiccant specified in the AMDF Packaging File or container installation
instructions
WARNING
Do not apply corrosion preventative compound to the pressure relief valve or the area
adjacent to it. Clogging of the valve may result in excessive pressure and subsequent
catastrophic failure of the container resulting in injury to personnel.
m. Close Container. Secure container lid to container base using nuts, washers and bolts of installed closure
hardware as appropriate. Torque bolts as required. Coat all exposed closure devices, hardware, and bare metal surfaces
with corrosion preventative compound MIL-C-16173, Grade I (P-1).
