Readings must be within limits given in table 17-5.

I f readings are not within given limits, throw away

p a r t and get a new one.

C h e c k that gearcase (1) and gearcase cover (2) are not cracked, do not have

d a m a g e d threads, and are not damaged in any other way.

M e a s u r e bores for bushing (3) and bearings (4 and 5) in gearcase (1).

C h e c k wear limits. Refer to table 17-5.

Measure bore for bushing (6) in gearcase and cover (2). Check wear

limits. R e f e r to table 17-5.

Check that b r a k e drum (7) has no rough surfaces and is not scored or

cracked.

Check that b r a k e band assembly (8) is not worn or oil soaked.

Check that s p r i n g (9) is not cracked, broken or damaged in any other way.

Check that s e a l (10) is not cracked, burned, too stiff or damaged in any

other way.
