1. Spray Test. Before refinishing, test main rotor blade box for leakage as follows:
(1) Place box in normal shipping and storage position with cover secured
(2) Direct a heavy spray of water at a 45-degree angle on all sides, spraying each side for to minutes
(3) After removing water that has accumulated on top of cover, open box and examine interior for leakage of
eater onto cushions and into areas directly over location of rotor blade
(4) Eliminate leaks which are disclosed, by riveting patches as indicated in paragraph 3-4e Leaks which are
inaccessible to patching can be repaired by applying sealing compound conforming to MIL-S-8802. Class B-1/2 as
indicated in paragraph 3-4h.
m . Refinishing. Completely refinish container Mask gasket material mating surfaces and shock mount non-metallic
parts. Paint interior and exterior surfaces. Apply one coat (0 001 to 0 0015 inch dry film thickness) of epoxy primer
conforming to MIL-P-53022, Type II. Air dry the primer at least twenty minutes Apply two coats (0.0018 inch minimum
total, dry film thickness) of polyurethane coating conforming to MIL-C-46168, Type II, Fed-Std-595 color no 34094 (Green
383).
n. Markings. Stencil new markings with polyurethane coating conforming to MIL-C-46168, Type II, Fed-Std-595 Color
No 37078 (Aircraft Black). Locate and block marking as follows:
